KU got screwed by the tournament committee. Top seed, with the toughest region.
Agreed. With Ohio State, Georgetown, Maryland as the #2, #3, and #4 seeds, respectively, this seems to be the most difficult region. KU, your fans are behind you. Go Jayhawks!
Wow...glad to see the #1 overall seed counts for something...Very tough 2-5 seeds, not to mention the 2 teams that beat KU in the same region. Also the committee putting Duke as the #3 overall over Syracuse means that a possible national semifinal match up with The Orange instead of lesser Duke team. Tough break IMO.
agree committee gave KU toughest regional - also disappointed we can't have a all Kansas final
Look we got the toughest run because we ARE the best team and they wont to see what we can do RAH RAH ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
Big 12 tourney champ game....How do you like ESPN's Brent Musberger's explanation of why KU has the "chalk" in its rock chalk Jayhawk chant? He said "It's because Rah Rah Jayhawk (the old chant) needed something to rhyme with Jayhawk" So...he says...we randomly chose chalk. What an idiot.....
what good is the #1 seed???? brought us the toughest bracket!! what a rotten break...... i thought being 1 overall was a good thing....... wow. it won't be easy but we CAN do it. lets go hawks!! 4 of 5 commentators picked ku to win it all..... vitale baby had to pick kentucky. go home, dicky baby. ROCK CHALK!!! start and finish strong!!
To be the best you have got to beat the best! Go Jayhawks!!!!
The good news that to get to the Elite Eight, we should be okay. We will definitely have a solid team at the eight and to get to the final four.
Plus How did Duke jump Syracuse. That hurts us as well.
Well, when we win it all they can't say we had it handed to us on silver platter. We will have earned it. Even some people are posting on the UK site that we have the toughest bracket (though most of them are complaining about how hard they have it.)
KU is in the toughest bracket for sure. A bracket that the #1 team in the country should be able to handle. However this is college basketball and any team can beat another on any givin date. Go Hawks!!!!
Brent Musberger is a complete idiot. If you don't know why the "Rock Chalk" chant was invented, don't make up something and sound foolish. What a tard. Bob Knight was getting on my nerves too. Calling out Reed for being so slow. Reed might not be the fastest on the team, but he's not slow. We have an extremely hard region. UNLV is no slouch... Then possibly Maryland, Georgetown......WOW!!! We got screwed, but I believe we are up for the challenge. ROCK CHALK!!!
toughest bracket indeed but also the best team without a doubt. rock chalk!
Like Bill Self said,"I don't think the committe did us any favors." Try explaining why Ohio State who many say was the the first #2 seed, and Georgetown who many say was the the first #3 seed and has also been playing like a number one seed as of late and Maryland who many say was the first #4 seed ended up in our region? Also they put the only 2 teams that beat us during the regular season (Tennessee and Oklahoma State) in the same region.
Aren't we supposed to get a few breaks since we are the overall first #1 seed? I guess not. All I say is I hope we go in there and blow all these teams out by 20 points and prove once and for all that we are the best team in the nation and Bill Self is the best coach in the nation.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!
Why does Duke play the play in teams? I thought the number one seed over all played the winner of that game.
The committee ought to be investigated. Every year they put the number one team, especially if it is UNC or Duke, in the cream puff bracket. The NCAA is a farce and was one even when it was housed in Kansas City. Too bad this monopoly on college sports can't be broken up. All is does is make money for the officials with the right suck to get to run it. I wish college players would go on strike. After all they are the laborers who make it rich.
Ohio State / Georgetown = no bench. KU will wear either of these teams out. Don't forget that we have been ranked #1 almost all year, so essentially that means that we can beat everybody. Big Ten, Big East, maybe not as tough as the Big Twelve. KU rolls these fools.
Everyone except westtexjayhawk is on to something. Why the toughest bracket? This is a chickens**t deal.
Listened to a committee member explain that last month. The play in game doesn't go automatically to the #1 overall seed. It gets assigned to any of the 4 #1 seeds.
I couldn't vote on extremely hard. I'd say Lehighs path is extremely hard.
Well, KU only has to play at most one of the following: Ohio State, Georgetown, Tennessee, Oklahoma State... and then, only if we reach the Elite Eight. All the quarterfinal matchups are going to be rough. Any bracket is only tough if the top seeds win their games. Kentucky could face Texas in the 2nd round, and Duke might have to go up against Louisville... at least the first 2 rounds don't look any worse than you might expect. After that, it depends on who survives to the 2nd weekend. I'd call it "moderately hard", but harder than you'd expect if KU is #1 overall.
It would only be extremely hard if you count us in the difficulty rating. I'd go moderately just looking at our competition, every game is going to be a must watch in this region!
Since one of the easiest ways to get upset in the tournament is to underestimate your opponent, I'd say the committee did us a favor. There's no way we get caught sleeping playing any of those teams!
Viking76. That's a good point, but you also get exhausted playing two good teams back to back with a days rest.
Digger says OSU is winning it all though!
KU also came from the toughest conference this past year, had a tough road in winning the Big 12 tourny. So it's not like the boys haven't had to play tough and get tough all season, so here's to them.
Play with a little chip on your shoulder boys, play a little bit jilted and when you win it all you can walk away knowing that you won it and it wasn't handed to you.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!!
When the bracket first came out, I was mad cause of the difficulty. Looking at it now, all the teams that scared me are in the bottom of our bracket so we would only play one. I think we got a better deal than Kentucky. Even though Texas has slipped, they still are very athletic. And this year I have been more satisfied with our play when we are playing a high caliber team, so playing Georgetown or Ohio State I think we would be ready.
bring it on, baby!! have faith, KU fans!!
i voted for 'moderately easy' - confidence will play big role here.
we've been on this road before, as some already mentioned, with KU omni-defense, and in'n'out-offense, who wouldn't tremble facing us?
once we conquer the Midwest, haha, anything is a piece of cake!!!
because KU will gobble up its Final Four opponent!!!
Kansas - Midwest has 7 top 25 teams (5 in the top 15)
Kentucky - East has 5 top 25 teams (4 in the top 15)
Syracuse - West has 8 top 25 teams (3 in the top 15)
Dook - South has 5 top 25 teams (3 in the top 15)
They want to make it fair for the other teams...
ohio state has been impressive in many games. but keep in mind they go six deep... six. check it out. i watched them this year and those six players may keep up, maybe better at the 2/3, worse at the 4/5 but they will have no legs and lose the game without a 7th and 8th option off the bench.
they won't get past g'town even if they make it past the other OSU
