Why redshirt? Just practice, play, and move on.

maybe we might need someone if others go pro early next year?

This would be a wasted year for both of them, if they play. Look at our line-up last night when the "scrubs" were in: Morris twins, Elijah Johnson, Jordan Juenemann, and Tyrel Reed. Additionally, we have Brady coming back in January. It isn't likely that either of them will make the top 7 or 8 of HCBS's nine man rotation, and, if that is the case, it would be better for them and the program if they saved a year of eligibility.

Looking at the roster, there are 12 guys who could conceivably be in the rotation first semester: 4 bigs, 3 wings, 5 guards. I think you want two players at each position for depth and in case of injury, which leaves 4 bigs, 2 wings and 4 guards.

To get there, you have to redshirt a 3 (Little or Releford) and a guard (Johnson alone is eligible).

I don't see both Little AND Releford redshirting because that would leave X as the only true 3. I don't see EJ redshirting because Self says he's too good.

That leaves 4+2+5 = 11 guys first semester, 5+2+6 = 13 guys second semester. Too many guards; good luck getting minutes, CJ & Tyrel !

CJ won't have trouble getting minutes. Everyone is underestimating the impact he will make on this team.
