Xavier Henry's points were great to watch, but it was great to see that the message Bill Self was sending to Tyshawn Taylor was received loud and clear.

Not to take away from Cole and Markieff's double-dominance, but LaSalle was an undersized team in the post--so I kinda expect big #s from our bigs. I wanted to see improving perimeter play, and wanted to see Tyshawn shine--and he did: TT got my vote. And his 6 assists helped X, Cole, MkM get their big numbers. Guard play so important to the bigs getting "big" stats. Not worried about Sherron--I think he was a bit frustrated and tried to force some at the end, but thats understandable--he's a competitor. Obviously the goal from the opening tip was to feed the post, and they did. And all this unselfish passing obviously benefitted X! So his stat line is expected also.

The rest was pretty much expected (maybe X's a little less so), and all were impressive.
I was 'most happy' to see TT get a good game down today and hopefully turn the corner on the season. Missing from the poll is his other numbers, which were all pretty good...

I really enjoy seeing the bigs getting mucho rebounds. That means more points on offense, and less points for the foes on defense!

RE: the Poll
X - not too surprised... TT - very happy to see the turnaround... CA - this... Cole had appeared soft in the last few games... I don't know if it was sickness or grandma... but he definitely showed more lane presence in the LaSalle game.

My take:
X - 31 points, 1 blk, 2 steals, 2 assists, 4 rebounds, I was going to say that this was a given with him scoring a lot of points, however, these stats are truly amazing. He was awake on both sides of the floor.
TT - 10 points, 1 blk, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, zero steals. I don't like the zero steals stat, makes me feel like he's not playing defense as well as he should. Actually, none of our small guards had steals, only Xavier, T-Rob, Teahan, and Markieff had steals. I find this a little disheartening for a team with such high expectations. Remember how our 07-08 team used steals to create runs during scoring droughts, we'll need that if we want to make a serious run in the tournament.
Cole - 19 points, 5 blks, 6 rebounds, pretty good although facing a small team, expected production.
Markieff - 12 points, 4 blks, 12 rebounds, is huge in my opinion. He's playing beyond expectations this season and will help us indefinitely in March / April if this becomes a regular occurance.

It was great to see Cole's performance, given how he started off the year. We definitely want him to show consistent dominance.
And 31 points is pretty fun to watch, however it didn't seem like Xavier just "took over the game". Don't get me wrong, I think he'll have more games like this. Keep 'em coming X! You’re awesome! Maybe I expect this from you.
My vote was Tyshawn.
Tyshawn, in my mind, has BIG expectations this year. I think those expectations were brought on by how well he played with the US team. The way he started out the year seemed to be a polar opposite of that. To see him distribute the ball, get his points and not turn the ball over is GREAT!
That is what I was most happy with, seeing Tyshawn play the way he did.
NOW KEEP IT UP TYSHAWN ! ! ! : ) Go Hawks ! ! !
