Keegan: "...until you knock off the champ, the champ is the favorite...how do you bet against Kansas?"

Ad hominem fallacy, prime example. Listen, there is nothing predestined about Kansas winning the conference, nor has there ever been.

The Champ lost Joel Embiid and Andrew Wiggins, by all accounts probably better than their replacements in Alexander and Oubre (though not taking anything away from them, but even so). Texas DID beat Kansas even with Joel and Andrew, and now you add Myles Turner to the Longhorn frontcourt. And guess what else. Texas returns EVERYBODY.

Predicting Texas as the favorite is not ludicrous. Come on Tom. Your analysis lately is slipping.

No improvement in Perry Ellis since the second half of his freshman year? Wow, Tom. The number of times Perry shouldered the load his Sophomore year speaks volumes. He's more than doubled his point production from F to S, increased free throw percentage, blocks, rebounds, assists, and steals (all nearly DOUBLED) and importantly, Ellis has shown that he CAN be the man in games, when that was not the case his freshman year. Self can justify hope that Perry can shoulder the load. I just dont understand your position at all...

Two comments:

  1. Predicting Texas to win the Big 12 is ludicrous, because KU has won 10 in a row. Maybe "insane" would be a better description.

  2. Secondly, I wanted to puke when I started listening to this audio. Perry Ellis play the 3 if we get Turner, what, how, why??? The people that know the least have the platform. Tom, Perry can't keep dumpy George Niang in front him. We need to improve defensively and Turner would help but not by moving Perry to the three.

Cole, FYI: Nobody can keep Niang in front of them! Joe, I'm not sure Alexander and Oubre won't be better than Embiid and Wiggins. Especially since Embiid missed so many games, including the NCAA Tournament, but Embiid had length, and was a great shot blocker, and you just can't replace that. Also, Alexander is a beast, and will be an absolute monster on the boards! Oubre is a much better outside shooter than Wiggins, and loves contact (something that Wiggins sometimes shied away from. Oubre is also a great defender (although probably not quite as good as Wiggins, but only time will tell, on that). Wiggins is a better athlete, but Oubre is also a great athlete, and Oubre is a better ball handler. Overall, we will be a much better team next season, especially since we will go back to playing, inside out! That will help Perry a lot. Rock Chalk! PS: Getting Graham (a bigger, more athletic PG), will make all the difference in the world. Our outside shooting will also be much, much, better, next season, with Conner, Green, Perry, Selden, Oubre, White, and Nicholson. All the guys who were freshmen last year, had so much thrown at them, but now, they have that year under their belts, and I expect a ton of improvement from all of them.
