Keegan, if you have an ounce of decency you'll make some sort of amends to Brock. Come on Tom, it's retribution time to this young man.

I'd like to see some actual quotes from players saying they don't like Brock Berglund. All they keep saying is players weren't impressed. How do we, as readers, know that isn't just the reporter's interpretation of players pretty much just saying they don't know the guy because he hasn't been on campus yet. If the guy doesn't want to be at KU or can't play, then so be it. I don't like this speculation and putting the kid behind the 8 ball before he even starts when this could be family related or something of that nature.

Would like to hear from the coaches or maybe even Berglund directly. Otherwise, unless there is something other than here say, I cannot understand why this young man is getting butchered by LJW when he hasn't taken a snap! Coverage has been of poor taste!

One thing that is NOT going to happen is hearing it from the coaches, and I'd be pretty disappointed if we did. But I am curious why we haven't at least heard that a "player who wished to not be named" said this or that. Makes it hard to know if it's true.

So, there is no proof whatsoever that Brook won't play here, but Keegan crucifies him in an article and says he won't play here ever. More Keegan crap, how he has a job is crazy.

"There's a lot of rumors. There's a lot of talk. There's a lot of things that are right and wrong all at the same time. But we do know for sure is, as of recording this, he's in Lawrence, and that likely means he will stick it out and try to play football for Kansas."

A lot of rumors. Right and wrong.

Here is the difference: one reporter for this newspaper choose not to report on rumors, both right and wrong, and one did. One choose not to print what he had heard as it may not be substantiated, the other decided to put forth the information he was being told regardless as to whether or not it actually might be correct in an attempt to push out a story that would help earn his paper more money.

One acted like a journalist. The other did not.

Tom, I have been critical of you in the past, and I have also sent you personal messages when I felt like you had done a superior job. In this case, you have seriously hurt your standing with the readership. What you did was not journalism. I'm sure you heard things, and I'm sure you heard things from direct sources, like players with high standing on the team. The problem is that you took that step without saying anything about your information, and now that you will probably be wrong, it will all come back on you. Even though, as Matt said the other day "you had good information," that makes no difference to those who are responsible for earning you a paycheck. You have lost credibility. If the time comes that you make a grand statement again without giving any evidence or sources, no one will believe you because you have already been wrong having done it before.

Credibility Tom. It is the thing that separates a journalist from some dude with an internet connection on a blog. Jesse and Matt both have a substantial amount of credibility with the readers. At this point, you have essentially zero. It will take a lot of work to earn it back, and I suggest you make decisions as a journalist going forward instead of as a tabloid reporter. Take a cue from your coworkers: report what is fact. Give opinion when you can back it up. Otherwise, even if you have "good information," you look like a hack. Don't be a hack, Tom. Be a good journalist like I've seen you be before.

Like Matt Tait and Jesse Newel are everyday.

I'm just glad Tait wears the second pair of socks on his feet. I was worried where that was going and if the second pair was in a different place other than his feet, how did Jesse know about them. Phew!

I'm not a big fan of Keegan, and in fact think some of his stories are just plain lame. But he does write the editorials, and I believe that means he is there to present his opinion. So I try, for the most part, to lay off the guy. The other thing I do is try to put things in perspective. I'd much rather let Keegan get my blood boiling than have to put up with the Tiger-loving Dugan Arnette!!!
