Thanks Elijah for losing the game for us.
Coach should have benched you the whole game.
5 turn overs, a flagrant foul and 0 assists? terrible.
Perry should have played more minutes
One of the worst finishes I've ever seen. At a loss for words.
bill should have sat EJ b=no dounbt cist u8s the game Fire him.

Iowa State laughing hard ...
How can they laugh when they are still crying over the charge call in the ISU/Ohio St game?!
Yes, you could have done a much better job from the bench, coach. Learn from this... but this was a huge dud.
I think Self honestly didn't know where to go with 5 seconds left.
I was looking for Releford coming off a wing for a floater or all the way to the rim. Good foul shooter if he gets fouled.
Hopefully in future NCAA tournaments Self knows what play he'd run if he's down 2 with seconds to go.
self tried to make a square peg go through a round hole all season....ej is not a point guard....he is not good at end of game situations. we had the game won and all we had to do was work the shot clock and not turn the ball over. and self watched ej make turnover after poor decision after turnover in a 3 minute time frame and kept EJ at the point. It's just hard to take when we had the game won and ej's point guard play at the end handed Michigan the win. This one is on Self in my opinion. EJ did his best, but is a horrible point guard
Two words: Trey Burke
True, but facts is facts.
From the under 4:00 TV timeout, with a 10 point lead.
Converted 1+1, two made FTs
Bricked front end of 1+1, which would have made it a two possession game with :13 left
Not what you want from your senior leader and PG.....
All I have to say, is that the Elijah gives and the Elijah takes. Don't ever forget that the surge that got us our 9th conference championship in a row, really began with Elijah's incredible game against Iowa St. You all sang his praises that day, and now you are down on him, and yes he did stink in the last 3 minutes, but this game could have been one by a play by any of 7 people, and they did not make it. My only real disappointment was Elijah not simply driving to the basket for the shot, or get fouled, it was our last best chance.
Coach was right that this team overachieved, and we all know it. I think that is also partially why we are all so disappointed. I do think coach self could have called a time out, and called for a better play during Michigan Sts run. It was just like Memphis state. One team has to make a lot of plays, and the other just has to make a couple, and we did not make any. The last winning play we had was the first two free throws that Elijah made. Not that it was Elijah who also made the 3 that got us within 2. In other words he scored our last 5 points?
You are wrong about one item. How the hell are the four players on the court with EJ going to make a play when he is turning the ball over. Look, Johnson cost us the game, and we were a better team with him on the bench. If he doesn't play in this game, we win easily.
They're not only bad passes, but passes that easily lead to easy transition buckets. Passes that scared guys make.
Plus, it seemed like Elijah wanted NO PART of that last shot. He was going to drive and PASS the whole time. If he wanted to shoot the last shot, he easily could have done it by taking a better route to the basket. That was Elijah playing scared after costing us the ballgame in regulation.
Intentional Foul was intentional. Seems like Self knew it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Elijah gets himself in trouble on campus over the next few weeks.
I guess we know how Memphis in 2008 felt now. I'm at a loss for words stumbling around the house.
I've been fearing this ending all season. Johnson was a senior with years of experience. Bill
Self really didn't have mush choice in playing him. Had he been smart and stayed in school we might have had Josh Selby instead of Johnson in the lineup. He has been a MAJOR factor in every loss we've had this year. But a four year senior with final four experience shouldn"t have stupid turn overs and absolutely shouldn't be smacking another player in the family jewels. I'm not just a Johnson basher. Those are the facts. I hate to say it but from what I've seen tharpe is just a younger version of Johnson. He doesn't think on a lot of plays. I am hoping to see KU find a true point guard with some class who even though he may not win all our games for us he won't be losing them. Johnson has put KU in a bad light in front of the entire nation. I'm sorry, but that's my opinion and it's one probably shared by a great many fans and haters alike this morning. Rock Chalk.
It ain't all Elijah, one more point during regulation by anybody would have won it.
However, overcoming EJ's bonehead plays was too much for the team. I thought he should have been benched longer after his flagrant and after turning the ball over so many times- he does not play well at the end of games- he should have been out and let Releford take it to the basket-
I am still reeling from the loss- unbelievable- I guess there is enough blame to go around including the coaches. I have been watching KU basketball for 30 years and I can't remember being so shocked. The other losses I could see coming- not this one.
Elijah Johnson played good all year ku would not be where they were in the regular season with out him. ku would have lost to iowa st and many more if he did not play. Thanks eli for a great season. Drinks on me if i see u around. keep ya head up and good luck in whatever u do in life. And for all u haters i would like to see u do better, REAL FANS ride for there team good or bad so, Sweet 16 not a bad run we still got the big 12 title and tourney title so lets hear it for the ku b-ball team.
Congratulations, KU Men's Team, for a season that was a lot better than had been expected. I loved watching the players: Kevin Young and his enthusiasm, Jeff Withey and his contemplation, Ben McLemore with his ups and downs, etc. Elijah had a poor last game, but he, too, is a young person, being scrutinized by many of you who I think are older guys on this site, not to mention millions of TV viewers. He has had many good games, and I wish him well for his basketball future. I have no idea how the "family jewel" incident was triggered. He probably doesn't know either. Looking forward to the KU Women's game tomorrow. They'll need to be dragonslayers to win tomorrow morning. Tune in to ESPN. Win or lose, I'll always be a fan. Happy Easter to everyone.
You know if Tharpe had hit that three pointer, he and EJ would have been heroes! They gave it a good try. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Thank God most of the posters on here aren't our coach, because they really only know how to act in one situation. When we win. Nobody wins 100% of the time, so if you don't know how to lose, you are doomed to wandering around the house and crying over a silly game. It was a great season. One with ups and downs, but I love the Jayhawks and Bill Self is still the coach I want on the bench!
Disappointed in coach self his substitutions totally sucked, perry needed to play more
First let me say, I am hurting as much as we all are. BUT....do not speak bad of Self!!!
Lets not forget, how happy we were, and how much praise we were giving Self for KU's great run just one year ago! ONCE AGAIN, Kansas has overachieved. Thats not a bad thing, but we are very spoiled! Bill has gotten the most out of his players pretty much every year since 06. We have made the sweet 16 in 6 out of the last 7 years! Do you realize how few schools can say that!?! And that Bill self is averaging 30 wins per season!? Come on guys, yes it hurts, but lets not over-react. We went 31-6 and made the sweet 16 in a 'rebuilding year'....
We have much to be proud of! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
Rest assured, Bill self will find a way to put us back in the sweet 16 next year...he always does
This team was inconsistent in scoring almost the whole season. EJ was not just terrible that last game but all the games in the tournament. I knew after that first game when they almost lost to the 16 seed it wasn't going to be pretty. I know a lot will disagree with me on this but I felt like there was no real leadership this season and with all those seniors it doesn't make sense.
Also, I don't understand all this talk about how this was supposed to be a rebuilding year. How can that be with almost the whole starting lineup as seniors? If this was a rebuilding year what in the world is this next season? Very disappointing loss but at the same time glad we were not the first #1 seed to ever lose to a #16.
After watching Wichita St. almost upset #1 Louisville, I am sure glad we didn't play them, I don't think we could of beat them with Elijah at point.
I just wish, especially since we had that free time out, Releford would have drove to the basket and if he didn't make it, he would have made his 2 free throws. I think Bill Self is the best coach we have had in my 50+ years of being a true blue KU fan, especially since I live in K-ST. country....I sure hope with the up and down season Ben had that he wouldn't think twice about staying at least another year. I wish they would change that rule and make them stay at least 2 years...He really will struggle going in the 2nd or 3rd round. He needs to stay and get the needed experience. Rock Chalk Jayhawk forever. We love you Bill.
