Purdue coach Matt Painter and players Robbie Hummel and Lewis Jackson talk to reporters following the Boilermakers' 63-60 loss to Kansas on March 18, 2012.
Copy and paste the link:
What an awful question by one of the reporters about how it feels for Robbie Hummel to play his last game, how do you think it feels. That kid played hard, left it all out on the court and is obviously a great athlete and classy person. Hopefully he has a long basketball future ahead of him. He should be proud, his family should be proud, and his university should be proud.
Apparently Doyle graduated from the Katie Couric school of interviewing.
Yeah, that was typical Gregg Doyle. Always trying to stir the pot.
A tip of the cap to the Purdue coach and kids. VERY CLASSY!
Completely agree. Very classy people.
Not a very good question, I agree. However, Doyel had an article write and needed quotes. And if you check CBSSports, he wrote a really good article praising Hummel and his entire college career
Just listened to Coach Painter's post conf. He seems to be class act. I was very impressed with his answer to a question on recruiting challenges at Purdue comapred to KU, UK, NC etc. He immediately commented that KU players played a tough game. He mentioned that there are no McDonald All Americans on this KU team. He said that there are couple of players who have developed into NBA players and coaching staff should get credit for it. He also praised KU for winning 8 straight Big 12 championships.
I felt bad for Purdue. They outplayed us most of the game and seem to be jinxed in March.
Class program at Purdue... you know it by witnessing how they handled this tough loss.
I hope they do better in the future at March Madness... just not at our expense!
I bet Gene Keady took it tough. The Kansas-native is largely responsible for putting Purdue on the map.
Classy guys at Purdue. Thought Matt Painter called a great game from the bench. Never really thought much about Purdue, but was definitely impressed with their preparation, energy, and the way they conducted themselves on the court. Hats off to Purdue. Rock chalk Jayhawk.
CBS employs that guy? Is he a complete moron? "Hi, Gregg Doyle with CBS Short Bus Crew. I just wondered how it feels to have your foot run over by a bus. Oh, it hurts like hell? Shocking news!"
Also, we knew Matt Painter had to be a class act when he visited Mizzou, flew back, took a raise (yet less money overall) to stay at Purdue.
I think Hummel will be an excellent pro. He should have a nice career. He has all the tools. Painter is good. Real good. They just got beat in a close one...thankfully we were the victors but they were solid.
