Woodling/Fagan: Midseason woes abound

Former Journal-World sports editor Chuck Woodling and current J-W business editor Mark Fagan (then just a KU sophomore) discuss the feelings around Lawrence as the 1987-88 KU team had to overcome a series of hurdles midseason. Included were Archie Marshall's knee injury, Marvin Branch's eligibility and Chris Piper's nagging injury.

Former Journal-World sports editor Chuck Woodling takes a look back at the scene as the Jayhawks prepared for what would be an unforeseen title run, with a rather unknown group surrounding superstar Danny Manning. Kansas was no one's favorite to win the NCAA Championship, especially given the strength of the Big 8 that year.
