Touring Web.com pro Chris Thompson has one more round to play in the regular season and enters it projected to finish 17th on the money list. The top 25 earn PGA Tour cards.
Touring Web.com pro Chris Thompson, who had multiple near misses over the years in Q school in his quest to make the PGA Tour, finished third in the Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae on Sunday by shooting a 64.
Eleven years after his first Q school survival, Chris Thompson finished tied for 16th Sunday, earning exempt status for the first eight tournaments of the Web.com tour. By the end of that eight-tournament, five-country stretch, he likely will have made enough money to qualify for the full 27-tournament schedule, the final 22 played in the United States. That would mean a year without the dreaded Monday qualifiers, one-day shots at earning entry into Web.com and PGA Tour events.
