Kansas coach Charlie Weis speaks during the Big 12 college football media days on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Dallas.
Although Kansas University football coach Charlie Weis has had three different jobs since being fired as Notre Dame's head football coach following the 2009 season, people still ask him about the Fighting Irish all the time. It happened again on Monday morning's Big 12 coaches conference call, and Weis, who coached and recruited many current Notre Dame players, said he was thrilled that his former school and alma mater finished the season 12-0 and would play for the national title. Kansas University announced Thursday night that Weis would pay for any KU students without tickets who are interested in attending Saturday’s 6 p.m. Senior Night game. By Matt Tait
The connections are few and far between, but the ones that exist are meaningful. Only four of the Big 12 Conference’s nine other football coaches knew Kansas University coach Charlie Weis prior to his being hired by the Jayhawks, and earlier this week at Big 12 media days in Dallas, those four shared their memories with the Journal-World.
After spending the offseason cobbling together a roster he believes can compete in the Big 12, first-year Kansas University football coach Charlie Weis is looking for more.
