Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe listens to a reporter’s question during a news conference following the final day of spring meetings on June 4.
Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe on Tuesday made public the joke that so many people around the country made privately during the weeks that followed this summer’s conference realignment talks.
A source close to the situation told the Journal-World late Sunday night that the Big 12 Conference appears to have moved closer to an agreement with its remaining schools to keep the league together and that Oklahoma University will move to the North Division.
With the loss of two Big 12 schools in the past two days, Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe spoke to reporters via conference call Friday, regarding the future of the conference and whether or not it can move forward with 10 members. Here is a paraphrased version of that conference call. The complete audio will be available at LJWorld.com and KUsports.com shortly.
When taking this week’s Big 12 spring meetings on a day-by-day basis, one might have been able to conclude that a lot was getting done on the ballroom level of the InterContinental Hotel on the Plaza. The reality of it all couldn’t be farther from that view.
