He checked eBay to see if anyone had placed a charitable bid on his signed No. 93 game jersey, framed with two action photos and a plaque denoting his accomplishments as a Kansas University football player. Former Kansas University standout James McClinton is in Houston for today’s East-West Shrine Game. But after a scary incident earlier this week, he won’t be playing. McClinton suffered a seizure on Monday — the second time he’s had one in the last year — and was held out of football this week for precautionary reasons. Read more.

David Lawrence, former offensive lineman and current color commentator for Kansas University football games, watched the play on film just to make sure his mind wasn’t playing games with him.
Sure enough, it looked the same the second time. There was senior defensive tackle James McClinton behind Texas A&M running back Jorvorskie Lane, who was two yards behind the line of scrimmage, on the pivotal play of Saturday night’s 19-11 KU victory. Read more.

James McClinton is deeply spiritual and one of the all-around nicest guys on Kansas University’s football roster. So it was a bit of surprise during KU’s 58-10 victory over Baylor on Saturday to see McClinton, KU’s standout defensive tackle, getting in the face of Baylor quarterback Blake Szymanski at the end of the second quarter. Line shoulders responsibility for porous pass defense

Kansas University’s football team finished 119th, or dead last, among NCAA Division I-A teams in pass defense last year, surrendering 269 yards a game. The defensive line has a quick fix for the problem, though — harass the quarterback. “Obviously, you know if you sack the quarterback, they’re not throwing the ball,” junior defensive end Russell Brorsen said.
