The Sunflower Elementary KU Wall of Fame!
At Sunflower Elementary my 4th grade class has a tradition of collecting and putting up clippings and photos from the newspaper on our KU Wall of Fame. We bring in the pictures and the kids take turns taping them up on our wall collage style.
Lucky KU shirts vs. Davidson
Heres my story for the Davidson game.
KU grads support ‘Hawks
Yes, indeed! We are great KU fans (and graduates). Our recreation room is covered with KU memorabilia.
KU vs. Davidson superstitions
We had people over and were sitting in our front room watching the game. Throughout the first half we would switch seats.
Blue sweater, Jayhawk flag, and lucky TV
On Sunday when KU played Davidson I changed my red sweater to blue because Davidson was wearing red.
Fan ritual: Lucky ‘Old School’ shirt
I have a Jayhawk t-shirt that features the 1929 version of the Jayhawk, with the caption “OLD SCHOOL,” that has become a must-wear during KU games. It is very special to me since my 12-year-old son Hunter purchased it for my birthday last year using his own allowance money that he had saved.
Wearing shirts with ‘win’ in them and more
Don’t have any photos. Rituals include having biscuits and gravy on game day of the NCAA tourney. This started in 1986 because there was a Bob Evans across the parking lot from where the team stayed in Louisville. The times that we played a game in St. Louis, we would leave early enough to hit the Bob Evans on the west side of town.
UNC graduate, KU fan
I am probably among the few who live in Lawrence who graduated from University of North Carolina.
The Jayhawks Lounge
Mine is my basement called the Jayhawk Lounge.
Blue KU shirt
Okay … I know I’m crazy, but I’m very superstitious. I wear the SAME blue KU shirt for every basketball game, and when we are on a streak, this shirt does not get washed, it merely gets hung back up and waits for me to put it back on for the game. When we lose, then the shirt goes into the laundry and a new blue KU shirt is worn.
Ultimate KU Basketball fan
My twin sister Karen Couch is the ultimate KU Basketball fan.
Fan ritual: Red Hot Jayhawk Popcorn
We are responding to your request for rituals that people might have that helps the Jayhawks be successful.
