The Kansas men’s golf team pulled out a come-from-behind victory over Kansas State in the final match of pool play at the Big 12 Match Play event in Houston on Wednesday.

The Jayhawks, who finished third in Pool A with 5 points, then went on to finish sixth overall, falling to TCU in the fifth-place match, 4-2.

In the Jayhawks’ final match of pool play against their Sunflower State rivals, seniors Callum Bruce and Harry Hillier entered the final hole of their matches trailing their K-State counterparts by one. Both were able to win the 18th hole to halve the match, giving Kansas a 2-1-3 over the Wildcats.

In the battle for fifth, Kluver (4&2) and Bruce (2UP) picked up the lone KU victories against the Horned Frogs.

On Tuesday, after falling to Texas Tech in Monday’s opening match, the Jayhawks played their way to a one-point tie against top-seeded Oklahoma. Bruce led the way for the Jayhawks by winning his match 3&2 and Sigel (2&1) and Hillier (1UP) followed suit.

In Tuesday’s afternoon round, KU also picked up a point by tying eighth-seeded West Virginia, with Kluver and Sigel each winning 2&1 and Glawe winning 1UP.

In Wednesday’s championship round, third-seeded Texas topped No. 4 seed Texas Tech, 3-2-1 and the top-seeded Sooners blew past No. 2 seed Oklahoma State 5-1.
