Kansas tennis suffers 4-0 road loss to Texas Tech

The Kansas women’s tennis team couldn’t win a match during a 4-0 defeat to Texas Tech on Sunday at the McLeod Tennis Center.

With the loss, the Jayhawks dropped down to .500 on the year with a 5-5 overall record. They have lost both of their matches against Big 12 opponents so far this season. The Red Raiders improved to 9-3 on the year, including 3-0 in league play.

To start things off, Kansas lost both of its matches in doubles action. The tandem of Sonia Smagina and Vasiliki Karvouni suffered a 6-1 loss, while the pairing of Carmen Roxana Manu and Tiffany Lagarde dropped a 6-4 decision.

Texas Tech continued that success during singles plays. Smagina (court one), Roxana Manu (court three) and Karvouni (court four) all fell in straight sets. The three remaining singles matches went unfinished.

Kansas will travel to Wichita State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
