The Kansas volleyball team was swept by No. 8 Purdue in its second match of the 2021 season, falling to the Boilermakers, 25-20, 25-22 and 25-15 on Sunday at the Reamer Club Xtra Special Preimer in West Lafayette, Ind.

The loss dropped the Jayhawks to 0-2 on the season, while Purdue improved to 2-0.

Kansas was led by super-senior outside hitter Jenny Mosser, who totaled a team-high 10 kills and tied for the team lead with eight digs.

Freshman London Davis also had eight kills and four digs for the Jayhawks, while Sarah Nielsen led the way with 14 assists.

KU stayed close through the early stages of the first set, but a 6-0 Purdue run that turned a 13-all tie into a 19-13 Purdue advantage set the tone for the rest of the match.

KU trailed 9-8 in the second set before an 8-2 Purdue run put the home team out in front for good.

Next up, the Jayhawks will play at Lipscomb at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kansas also will face Wake Forest and Western Kentucky while in Nashville as part of the LUV Invite.
