KU softball suffers 2 losses to begin 2020 campaign

Kansas softball began the 2020 campaign with two losses in as many games on Friday at Alberta B. Farrington Softball Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

The Jayhawks (0-2) started things off with an 11-1 loss to No. 5 Arizona in the first game of the Kajikawa Classic. Arizona scored two runs in the first, four runs in the second and five in the fifth en route to the lopsided win. KU’s lone run came in the fourth, as designated hitter Morgyn Wynne was credited with the RBI.

In the second game of the doubleheader, KU suffered an 8-5 loss to Arizona State. Kansas jumped out to a 4-0 advantage, but Arizona State scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth in the comeback victory. Brittany Jackson and Sam Dellinger each had two hits for the Jayhawks in a losing effort. Jackson also drove in three runs.

Kansas will face Seattle and No. 12 Tennessee in the second day of the Kajikawa Classic on Saturday.
