The Kansas volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss (33-31, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22, 15-9) to Kansas State Wednesday night at Ahearn Field House.

Kansas won the first two sets before dropping three consecutive sets in the team’s latest Big 12 loss. It marked the first meeting of the Sunflower Showdown. KU is 6-10 overall, including 2-4 in league play.

Morgan Christon (18), Ashley Smith (14) and Rachel Langs (11) all had double-digit kills for the Jayhawks. Allie Nelson led the team with 19 digs, while Zoe Hill paced the squad with eight blocks in the loss.

KU plays host to Texas at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Wow. Always hate to lose to KSU especially when we are up 2-0. Is it just me or do we have an inordinate number of balls hit the floor in front of our back row defenders? It seemed like K-State's back row was always crowding the line and taking away a lot of our hitter's options while our back row was back and on their heels while the KSU attackers time and again dinked and dropped in front of them.

On a side note I thought the analyst on the broadcast last night was excellent (Camryn something). Among other things her explanation of KSU changing their attack to the middle was spot on.

Seems like every team has scouted us and knows our weakness. Another question? Against such a big powerful front line why not play Carrier? We are playing harder, we have the right players, but it is hard to see where our path for victory lies. We are bottom or next to bottom in almost every cat, and next year without Hill.Smith and Nelson is scary to think about.

What kind of corn are they feeding those KState women, they looked like NFL lineman. Where is Joe Piscopo?

Seriously my hat is off to them, because they were savage. We need Carrier to develop and that means in games. We are not going anywhere, so let's develop what we have. I still find it unlikely that we even 500 in the conference.

This will be the worst season for KU volleyball in the last 20 years? Certainly in the last 10.

I don't know but they were definitely big and aggressive. We made it easy for them to get their confidence going because our D was so terrible in set 3 and the first 3/4ths of set #4.

I'm interested to see how we do against UT this Saturday. I don't expect to win but want to see how well we compete.

I wonder what recruiting will be like next year after this stinker?
