With still more than a year to go before any commitments can become official, the Kansas football staff continued piecing together its 2021 recruiting class on Monday.

That’s when Kelan Robinson, a three-star receiver from Grand Prairie, Texas, became the fourth high school junior — and third from the Lone Star State — to announce his plans to eventually sign with KU.

Robinson, listed at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds by Rivals, posted his decision to Twitter.

“I’ve always dreamed about playing football at the next level, since I was young,” Robinson wrote in a note for social media. “Without all the hard work and dedication I wouldn’t be in this place right now.”

Robinson, who plays at South Grand Prairie High, tagged KU receivers coach Emmett Jones and head coach Les Miles in his tweet.

According to Rivals, KU is the only school so far to have offered Robinson a scholarship.

Back in July, Robinson told Jayhawk Slant, he took an unofficial visit to KU. The receiver also is a friend of Majik Rector, who committed to Kansas back in July.

Three of KU’s four commitments for 2021 are Texas prep receivers. The other is three-star Indiana quarterback Ben Easters.

None of the recruits can make his commitment to Kansas official until about 13 months from now, in December of 2020. And all verbal pledges are nonbinding.
