Hoppel, Emilianov qualify for NCAA Championships on day 2 of West Prelims

By Staff Report     May 25, 2019

Kansas track & field junior Bryce Hoppel extended his individual race win-streak to 17 and solidified his spot at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 800-meter run, and sophomore Alexandra Emilianov punched her ticket to Austin, Texas in the discus on day two of the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Sacramento, California.

Hoppel’s win came with a late push to pass Texas A&M’s Devin Dixon to clock in at 1:46.09 for the win and the ticket to Austin. The time was good for the No. 6 performance in Kansas men’s track & field history.

Emilianov was the 10th-ranked finisher in the West region in the discus on Friday, with her third and final throw of the day being her best at 55.36 meters (181-7 ft.).
