KU rowing places 4th at Big 12 Championship

The Kansas rowing team recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes as the season concluded at the 2019 Big 12 Championship Sunday at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

As a team, KU finished fourth in the Big 12 Championship with 82 points and fifth in the Automatic Qualifying Championship with 20 points. Junior Reese Arnold and sophomore Shannon Cody were recognized on the All-Big 12 team at the post-regatta award ceremony.

The Jayhawks’ 1V8 and 2V4 recorded the top finishes of the day after each placing fourth in their respective races. The First Varsity Eight edged Tennessee in the final race of the day, crossing the finish line in 6:46.15. The Second Varsity Four also finished ahead of the Vols for fourth place with a time of 7:53.81.

The Second Varsity Eight recorded a time of 6:58.46, four seconds behind Oklahoma to register a fifth place finish. The First Varsity Four and Third Varsity Eight both crossed the finish line in sixth place with times of 7:55.01 and 7:16.43, respectively.
