KU softball loses game one of Big 12 Championship to Texas Tech

In its first game at the 2019 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship, No. 6 seed Kansas lost to No. 4 seed Texas Tech by a 7-3 margin at the USA Hall of Fame Softball Complex.

Brynn Minor earned the start for Kansas and pitched into the fourth inning before being relieved by Mandy Roberts, who pitched 1 1/3 innings for the Jayhawks and Kirsten Pruett tossed the final three outs.

The Jayhawks, who had only one hit going into the seventh and were down seven runs, found success against Texas Tech starter Erin Edmoundson.

Morgyn Wynne led off the inning and hit a solo home run over the left field wall to put Kansas on the scoreboard. Two batters later, Madison Sykes tagged a ball over the right field wall for two runs. It trimmed the Texas Tech lead to four runs, but KU's rally was halted there.

Kansas was then down 5-0 in the top of the fourth in the second game against Oklahoma. The game was delayed due to weather and will resume Saturday morning.
