After tying a career day to the start the tournament on Sunday, senior Charlie Hillier matched his round one total of 5-under par to lead Kansas men's golf Monday in the second round.
Hillier is at 10-under for the tournament and has an outright lead for first place overall in the 73-player field, two strokes ahead of the second place finishers entering the final round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational.
As a team, the Jayhawks are in fourth place at 7-under and are seven strokes back of the College of Charleston for first place in the tournament. Kansas finished day two with 287 (-1) score. Kent State resides in second place at 12-under, while No. 20 South Carolina sits in third at 11-under.
Redshirt freshman Jeff Doty has shot 2-under through two rounds for KU, which is good enough for a tie for 25th overall. Junior Andy Spencer shot 3-over on the second day, which moved him to 1-over for the tournament and into a tie for 30th place.
The Jayhawks are set to tee off Tuesday morning for the final round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational.
