Backed by a strong showing from redshirt-junior Ryan Cyr, the Kansas baseball team completed the Friday doubleheader sweep with a 7-2 win over Northern Illinois at AirHogs Stadium. The Jayhawks claimed an 8-1 victory over the Huskies in the first game.

Cyr (1-0) paced the Jayhawks (7-3) to a 7-0 lead through a personal-best 6 2/3 innings of work where he allowed Northern Illinois (2-8) to scatter six hits while striking out four batters.

Freshman right fielder Casey Burnham boasted a perfect 3-for-3 effort at the plate with a RBI and a run scored while junior left fielder Brett Vosik connected for a pair of knocks with a RBI. In addition, sophomore third baseman Skyler Messinger led all hitters with two RBIs.

The series finale is slated for 11 a.m. Saturday.
