KU women’s basketball falls at No. 1 Baylor

By Staff Report     Feb 20, 2019

Kansas women’s basketball team was doubled up by No. 1 Baylor in an 80-40 loss Wednesday night inside the Ferrell Center.

Senior guard Christalah Lyons was the only player to score in double figures for the Jayhawks, ending the night with 10 points. KU (12-13, 2-12 Big 12) limited the Lady Bears to just 13 points in the opening period, their second-lowest scoring performance in the first quarter this season.

With the victory over Kansas, Baylor clinched at least a share of its ninth consecutive Big 12 regular-season championship. The Lady Bears need to win only one of their four remaining conference games to win the title outright.

Baylor (24-1, 14-0) had four players finish the night scoring double digits, led by junior Juicy Landrum’s game-high 20 points. Senior Kalani Brown posted a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, while junior Lauren Cox and fifth year Chloe Jackson added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Kansas travels to Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
