Quick recap: KU football falls to Nicholls State in overtime

The University of Kansas football team lost its 12th-straight game Saturday at Memorial Stadium in the season opener. Following a field goal by Gabriel Rui on the first possession of overtime, Nicholls State scored the necessary touchdown to finish off a 26-23 victory. Junior quarterback Chase Fourcade delivered the game-winning score on a 4-yard rushing touchdown.

In a game marred by bad snaps, sacks and no real running threat, the Kansas football team somehow found itself with a chance to open the season with a victory, in overtime at that. But head coach David Beaty’s fourth season opener ended the same as his first, in 2015, with a home defeat at the hands of an FCS opponent.
