The Kansas football program’s 2018 recruiting class lost one potential addition just more than a week ahead of National Signing Day.

Mike Brown, an offensive tackle from Eastern Arizona College, announced Tuesday — nine days after committing to the Jayhawks — his intentions to sign with a more reputable Big 12 team, West Virginia.

According to Keegan Cummings of WVSports.com, Brown, a three-star junior college tackle, visited Morgantown, W.Va., this past weekend with his brother, Joe, a three-star guard from Eastern Arizona.

The visit inspired the siblings to join Dana Holgorsen’s Mountaineers.

“I decided to take the same path as my brother towards WVU, because they provide a system in which I too can strive to become the best me I can be,” the former KU football pledge, Mike Brown, a rising sophomore, told WVSports.com “I feel being on the same side as my brother will help me develop quicker in a sense of football.”

KU’s 2018 recruiting class currently stands at 17 players. Brown’s de-commitment dropped the number of juco players in the class from 11, down to 10.

National Signing Day for college football is Feb. 7. KU signed 14 players during the December early signing period
