The Kansas football program lost more than a Big 12 road game to a top-five team Saturday night in Texas.

Just more than an hour after TCU clobbered the Jayhawks, 43-0, Clayton Tune, the only quarterback and lone Texas prep in KU’s 2018 recruiting class, made it known he had backed out of his verbal commitment to David Beaty and his staff.

Tune announced on Twitter his plan to listen to pitches from other coaching staffs.

“I have opened up my recruitment,” Tune tweeted out. “I’m going to put my faith in God and trust the process.”

Rated a three-star prospect by Rivals, Tune, a standout QB at Hebron High, in Carrollton, Texas, committed to Beaty and Kansas back in February.

Tune also sent an appreciative tweet out to Baylor tight ends coach Joey McGuire on Saturday evening, thanking the assistant for having him on what is presumed to be a recruiting visit.

The winless Bears lost a home game to West Virginia, 38-36, on Saturday, after scoring 23 fourth-quarter points in a rally that fell short of an upset victory.

The news on Tune’s recruitment shrunk KU’s pool of 2018 commitments to 10. The list still includes five-star New Orleans receiver Devonta Jason and his Landry-Walker High teammate, four-star cornerback Corione Harris.
