Texas used a complete game from freshman right-hander Nolan Kingham to escape with a 5-4 victory Thursday night over Kansas at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.

Kansas freshman Jaxx Groshans hit a two-run home run in the ninth, the first of his career, but it wasn’t enough and sophomore right-hander Jackson Goddard took the loss for Kansas.

The Longhorns touched Goddard for five runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks in 5-1/3 innings. Goddard struck out six Longhorns before giving way to left-hander Chase Kaplan, who did not allow run in 2-2/3 innings.

Kansas will face TCU at 7 p.m. today with the loser heading home. The Jayhawks upset TCU, ranked No. 6 in the nation, Wednesday in the Big 12 tournament.
