Sophomore Anastasia Rychagova and freshman Maria Toren Ribes won their third-straight doubles match for Kansas, but Tennessee won the doubles point and added three singles wins to defeat KU’s women’s tennis team, 4-0, on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Kansas, ranked 14th, fell to 6-3, and No. 24 Tennessee improved to 12-1.

Rychagova and Toran Ribes teamed at No. 3 doubles for a 6-2 victory over Tennessee’s Ariadna Riley and Ashley Bongart.

“(I give) credit to Tennessee,” said head coach Todd Chapman. “They came out, competed and controlled the energy of the match.”

The Volunteers won the doubles point when Brittany Lindl and Eve Repic topped KU’s Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum and Nina Khmelnitckaia at the No. 1 spot, 6-2; and Sadie Hammond and Gabby Schuck downed the Jayhawks’ Janet Koch and Tatiana Nikolaeva, 6-4, at No. 2.

Koch dropped a 6-1, 6-2 No. 3 singles match to Riley, and Toran Ribes fell to Johanna Silva, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5. UT’s Schuck defeated Kansas’ Nikolaeva, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 6.

The Jayhawks’ next action will be at home March 10 against TCU.
