KU women’s basketball dropped in overtime at Iowa State

Despite leading for a majority of the second half, the KU women's basketball team was unable to hold off Iowa State, falling 71-69 in overtime at Hilton Coliseum.

Led by Christalah Lyons (19 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds) and Kylee Kopatich (15 points, 11 rebounds), the Jayhawks overcame an early deficit and snagged their first lead of the game with less than a minute to play in the first half.

The Jayhawks (9-3, 0-1 Big 12), who led by three with less than two minutes left, committed three turnovers from that point forward while allowing Iowa State's Bridget Carleton (game-high 30 points) to score six points down the stretch. Kopatich drilled a 3 to send the game to overtime, but the Jayhawks were unable to regain the momentum, as Iowa State (7-5, 1-0) came away with the narrow win.

KU will return to action Sunday to take on TCU in Allen Fieldhouse.

Even though it was a loss it was a huge improvement from past seasons. Hopefully this helps their confidence that they can play with other good conference teams.

Where is the lady Jayhawks news under KU sports.? KU sports implies ALL sports not just the men’s basketball or football!
