Kansas golfer Daniel Hudson shot a 2-over 72 and held the lead after the first round of the Big 12 men’s golf tournament Monday at Prairie Dunes in Hutchinson. The Jayhawks held second place in the team standings.

Originally scheduled to be a 36-hole Monday, high winds caused the second round to be postponed until today, with the third round to be played immediately after.

“You certainly can’t win the tournament on the first day, but you can lose it,” KU coach Jamie Bermel said. “I’m happy for the team. Dan (Hudson) was solid all day and hit a lot of good shots. He managed his game and putted really well in windy conditions. He has played well for us, especially this spring, and he just keeps plugging along.”

Other KU scores: Daniel Sutton (tie for 12th, 77), Chase Hanna (tie for 18th, 78), Andy Spencer (tie for 22nd, 79) and Charlie Hillier (tie for 33rd, 81).

Oklahoma State led the team standings with a 302 total, followed by Kansas (306), Baylor (307), Oklahoma (308), Texas Tech (309), Texas (313), Kansas State (314), TCU (318), West Virginia (328) and Iowa State (329).
