Less than two hours after the completion of his program’s annual spring game, Kansas football head coach David Beaty was on Twitter, firing off his favorite hashtag, “Neat deal.”

It had nothing to do with the scrimmage, of course, rather signaling KU had received a new verbal commitment from a recruit.

The prospect, it turns out, was on hand Saturday at Memorial Stadium. It was there that receiver Tevailance Hunt told Beaty he intends to sign with the Jayhawks.

“All the glory to God. I am here to announce that I am committing to Kansas University,” Hunt announced on Twitter.

Rated a three-star wide receiver by Rivals, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Hunt — currently in his junior year at Texas High, in Texarkana, Texas — is the prep teammate of receiver Quan Hampton, who signed with KU this past February and will join the program a year ahead of Hunt.

According to Rivals, Hunt also has offers from Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, Tulsa and other programs.

Hunt told Jon Kirby of Jayhawk Slant he made the trip to Lawrence with Hampton’s family, and his high school teammate pitched him on joining forces at the college level.

“He told me it was a great environment and that he liked all the staff and players at Kansas,” Hunt told Jayhawk Slant.
