Game balls and gassers: KU vs. Ohio

Game Balls

Safety Bazie Bates knocked the ball out of receiver Jordan Reid’s hands to deny him a touchdown and save Kansas four points when Ohio kicked a field goal. He also contributed nine solo tackles and two assists.

Receiver Steven Sims made a spectacular catch inches off the ground and held onto the ball for his second touchdown of the day and fourth of the young season. He gained 114 yards on four receptions.

LaQuvionte Gonzalez returned a kick 99 yards in the second quarter for his team’s first score of the day and did a nice job of getting open as a receiver, including once when an accurate throw would have resulted in a touchdown.

Gassers

Gonzalez muffed two punts, putting the defense in terrible field position and leading to two field goals.

Marnez Ogletree was flagged for a face-mask penalty.

Long snapper John Wirtel’s errant snap on a punt led to a turnover and put the defense in a horrible spot.

I think you have to give Wise a game ball too. He made a lot of tackles and disruptions that I haven't seen in a long time from a KU defensive line.

How about a gasser for the the Big 12 who already have 8 losses.

As much as I like and support Beaty, his play calling in the first half was horrible. Nothing down field allowed the secondary to crash on the repeated lateral pass to the flats.

I'm assuming Beaty could have run some pass plays to Sims and Gonzales to put the linebackers corners and safeties on their heels to make them worried about them we could have opened up the running game but those passes to the sidelines that had no chance of working Or the little 2 yard out routes the running game had no chance. Someone mentioned it in another post if Beaty has no confidence in Cozart to throw the ball down the field then why is he playing him at quarterback. How about a gasser for the whole team for those stupid celebrations to celebrate a tackle batted ball while down double-digit points is embarrassing. bad play bad reads bad overall effort got them into that position then they make one play here and there and they're acting like a bunch of jerks. Embarrassing
