Shoal Creek, Ala. — Kansas University women’s golfers Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn and Pornvipa “Faii” Sakdee finished the first of three rounds at the NCAA Regional in Shoal Creek. Playing at the 6,470-yard, par-72 Shoal Creek Country Club, Kawinpakorn and Sakdee scored 75 and 79, respectively.

Entering today’s second round, Kawinpakorn is tied for 15th, and Sakdee is tied for 55th in the 96-golfer field. Kawinpakorn trails leader Jennifer Hahn of Vanderbilt by five strokes and is two shots from fourth.

The low six teams and low three individuals (not on those teams) from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championship, May 20-25, at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. If the tournament ended after one round, Kawinpakorn would miss qualifying by 1 stroke.
