By J-W Staff Reports     May 21, 2015

Chelsea Lott, a 6-foot-3 center from Fort Bend Hightower High in Houston, has signed a grant-in-aid and will join Kansas University’s women’s basketball team for the 2015-16 season, KU coach Brandon Schneider announced Thursday.

Lott averaged 7.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and two blocks per game during her senior season at Fort Bend.

“Chelsea will bring a long, athletic presence to our front line,” Schneider said. “She’s an outstanding rebounder and has the skill level to play in both the low and high post areas. She also has the potential to be an enforcer and paint protector on the defensive end. Chelsea has tremendous upside, and we are excited to have her as an addition to our program.”

Lott joins a KU recruiting class that includes Jayde Christopher (Cleveland High School/Federal Way, Washington), Tyler Johnson (Leavenworth High School/ Leavenworth, Kansas), Kylee Kopatich (Olathe South High School/Olathe, Kansas) and Aisia Robertson (Bishop O’Dowd High School/Richmond, California).
