Kansas University announced the signing of eight baseball players to letters of intent on Friday.

All eight are high school seniors.

“I have to tip my cap to (assistant coach) Ritchie Price and (associate head coach) Ryan (Graves) for putting together outstanding back-to-back recruiting classes,” head coach Ritch Price said. “I honestly believe the 2015 class is one of the best I have ever been associated with in my 22 years at the Div. I level. This class has the opportunity to be on par with the kids that are currently on our campus, which we are really excited about.”

I don't know about these baseball recruits nearly as much as I know basketball and football, but with the job that Price has done with the players that he has gotten, I have confidence that we'll be in the post-season again this season and those to follow. We were placed in a regional where all teams but us were from the same state last year. This time, let's take care of business with teams like New Mexico and other non-cons and get a better draw.

We play Utah four times including 3 times in Lawrence. We play two of the games in the Pac12/Big12 challenge in Surprise Stadium, same Stadium the Royals play their preseason home games at and two others at Sloan Stadium. We play Boston College. We play LSU at their place and we get all the Big 10 foes in Lawrence, which are only Michigan and Iowa this year it appears. There is a big opportunity to get some national recognition with this schedule and to raise the program up a level.

I implore everyone who can get to the games at home to go,but all of KU's home games are on ESPN3 and some of these other games may be televised elsewhere. We also need a better appearance in the Big 12 double elimination tourney. Let's get to 47 to 50 wins this time.

The new recruits will be here next year, so let's give them something to come into that they can take to a new level for us. Say, a College World Series championship? Wouldn't that be something?

Micky, I agree - I would have enjoyed knowing more about the recruits stats etc. from the LJW. I also agree that the Hawks are on the upswing. If I lived nearby, I would be in the stands. I hope they get out to SoCal as it would be a blast to see them out here.
