Big 12 honors 9 Jayhawks in swimming/diving

Nine Kansas University representatives were named to the Swimming and Diving Academic All-Big 12 first- and second-teams, the league announced Tuesday.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 grade-point average (GPA) or higher (either cumulative or the two previous semesters) and must have participated in 60 percent of her team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of participation. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

Kansas first-team honorees are: Laura Bilsborrow, so., global & international studies; Alyssa Golden, sr., community health & pre-nursing; Bryce Hinde, so., exercise science; Malia Johnson, sr., psychology & pre-dental; Deanna Marks, jr., mechanical engineering & business administration; and Chelsie Miller, so., accounting.

KU’s second-teamers: Alison Lusk, sr., chemical engineering; Haley Molden, so., exercise science; Sara Snow, sr., exercise science.

Kansas is in Austin, Texas, for the Big 12 Championships, which run today through Saturday.
