KU men’s golf 8th at Big 12

— Kansas University freshman Chase Hanna placed 27th to pace the Jayhawks to an eighth-place team finish at the nine-team Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship on Sunday at Whispering Pines Golf Club.

Hanna finished with a four-round score of 13-over 301.

Kansas had a four-round total of 1,210, edging only ninth-place Kansas State (1,231).

Texas won the team title with 1,158.

“Obviously this isn’t the result we wanted,” Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said. “Connor Peck had a solid day today, but the rest struggled. On the season, it was some great experience for the four new guys this year. We need to really work hard this summer and make sure we come back better.”

Other KU results: Ben Welle, tied for 28th, 302; Ryley Haas, tied for 32nd, 304; Connor Peck, tied for 37th, 308; and Logan Philley, 43rd, 339.

TCU’s Jullien Brun won the individual title with 277.
