KU women’s golf second in opener


— Kansas University’s Yupaporn Kawinpakorn tied for second place as the KU women’s golf team finished runner-up on Tuesday at the Cardinal Cup.

Kawinpakorn’s three-round total of 3-under 213 was one stroke behind the winner, Louisville’s Laura Restrepo. KU finished 22 shots behind the host Cardinals and three other Jayhawks placed in the top 16: Minami Levonowich (tied-14th place, 224), Pornvipa Sakdee (t-14th, 224) and Michelle Woods (t-16th, 225).

Kansas will play at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational on Monday in Manhattan.
