Chiefs re-sign ex-KU safety McDougald

The Kansas City Chiefs placed rookie safety Sanders Commings on injured reserve and signed Bradley McDougald to replace him on the roster heading into Sunday’s season opener at Jacksonville.

Commings missed nearly all of training camp after breaking his left collarbone. The fifth-round pick from Georgia was put on IR with a designation to return, meaning he could return to the active roster at any time during the season.

McDougald made it through final cuts as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas University, only to be waived Sunday when the Chiefs claimed seven other players off waivers.

The Chiefs also signed offensive guard Rishawn Johnson to the practice squad Tuesday. He takes the place of Rokevious Watkins, who is serving a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

And yes, Toeben is still on the practice squad. So.....for the first time ever in my life....I will root for the Chiefs this year.

Anyone know how other Jayhawks fared in the NFL?

Crist was signed by the Ravens . . . then released . . . then re-signed . . . then released again

Chris Harris as we know is doing well with the Broncos, but Steven Johnson is also listed as their backup LB which is good to see he's made a good impression and sticking with them. Anthony Collins and Tanner Hawkinson are both apparently doing well with the Bengals, and Aqib is going to play a big role in the Patriots D this year. I'm probably missing a few, so someone please add onto this.

I believe Steven Johnson served as a team captain for the Broncos' final preseason game. He's been great on special teams, hoping to see him more on D. And I'm also hoping Chris Harris has another pick-6 against Flacco tomorrow night!

Here are the rest:

Darrell Stuckey is still with the Chargers and doing well.

Dezmon Briscoe is on injured/reserve with the Redskins.

Kerry Meier was placed on waivers in April 2013 after spending 2012 on injured reserve and as of now is still an unsigned free agent.

Glad to see Bradley back with the Chiefs. I had a feeling they were making a big mistake waiving him in the first place.

I think it's about time for a regular "Hawks in the NFL" feature
