Logan Philley paces KU men’s golf

— Kansas University’s Logan Philley shot 2-under par in the morning and 4-under in the afternoon for a two-round score of 138 to put himself in a tie for seventh place Friday at the UTEP Price’s Give ’Em Five Golf Invitational on Friday at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club.

Philley’s 70-68—138 put him two strokes behind four co-leaders at 136.

Kansas teammate Ben Welle shot 69-70—139 and was in a six-way tie for 10th.

Other KU scores: Chase Hanna, tied for 24th, 143; Connor Peck, tied for 32nd, 145; and Jackson Foth, tied for 40th, 152.

As a team, Kansas is tied for fourth at 565. New Mexico State leads the team race with 551.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes today.

It would be nice to know how many teams and players there are in the tournament to use as some sort of reference as to how well we are doing. Being in fourth place could be really good or really bad.
