KU golfer Gilbert tied for 20th at NCAA regional

— Kansas University men’s golfer Chris Gilbert carded a 73 in the first round of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional on Thursday at Blessings Golf Club.

Gilbert, who sits in a five-way tie for 20th place, is the only Jayhawk playing in the postseason.

To advance to the NCAA Championship (May 28-30 in Atlanta), Gilbert must finish with the lowest score of the five golfers participating as individuals at the three-day tournament. Stephen F. Austin’s Mitchell McLeroy currently leads all individuals with a 3-under 69 and a tie for fifth place overall.
