KU softball earns All-Big 12 honors

Kansas University softball players earned several All-Big 12 nods, the conference announced Tuesday.

Senior left fielder Maggie Hull, freshman shortstop Chaley Brickey and freshman pitcher Kelsey Kessler were named to the league’s second team, while senior first baseman Mariah Montgomery was selected for the All-Big 12 Defensive Team.

Hull was also named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a first-year Big 12 award she shared with Baylor’s Kathy Shelton.

Jayhawks’ Hugo to transfer

Freshman softball player Alex Hugo will transfer from Kansas, KU coach Megan Smith announced Tuesday.

Hugo set a KU freshman record with 15 home runs and had a .428 batting average in 50 starts.
