— Kansas University’s rowing team placed third of five teams in the Big 12 Rowing Championship on Saturday.

The Jayhawks totaled 81 points and trailed runner-up Texas (117) and champion Oklahoma (133).

Kansas’ Fourth Varsity Eight earned KU’s only win of the day. The winning team was Kristen Byrd, Jessie Jacob, Stephanie Walker, Maija Mallula, Kelsey Dick, Jessica Scheer, Breeona Foster, Lauren Miller and coxswain Mary Slattery.

KU senior Olivia Kinet was named to the All-Big 12 first team, while juniors Alex Torquemada and Liz Scherer earned second-team nods.

The Jayhawks finish their season with the Conference USA Championships on May 18 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Dr. Z. Please get a new coach as fast as possible. We lost to K-Stat again this year, we were dominated by Texas and OU at the league meet, and this program is going nowhere.

Time for a fresh start.

i don't know how important rowing is at KU, but i would say it's not THAT important. we beat KSU at this meet and came close to beating them in the dual at the end of March. and it sounds like we're young too. we'll probably stay the course....we should be in good shape next year.
