KU rowing puts 14 on academic team

Kansas University’s Caty Clements was one of 12 rowers in the Big 12 Conference with a 4.0 grade-point average and one of 14 KU rowers to earn Academic All-Big 12 honors Wednesday.

Joining Clements (accounting) on the first team from KU were: senior Emily Starr (exercise science/pre-nursing); juniors Kelsie Fiss (pharmacy), Jessica Miller (exercise science), Elizabeth Scherer (exercise science/pre-nursing) and Emma Umbarger (exercise science/pre-nursing); and sophomores Jenni Hartzler (mathematics), Andrea Joyce (English), Sarah Lasini (community health) and Abbey Lozenski (human biology/pre-med).

Sophomores Julia Alvey (business) and Brooke Thuston (accounting), junior Caity Decker (psychology) and senior Cheyenne Verdoorn (exercise science) made the second team.

First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
