Kansas University’s Stanley Redwine was named Big 12 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year, the league announced Monday.
He had been named the league’s outdoor coach of the year in 2005.
The Jayhawks won their first Big 12 Indoor title and are sending a program-best 11 athletes to this weekend’s NCAA Indoor.
“I’m definitely excited about this, but I’m more excited for our athletes because this is just another honor for our program,” Redwine said. “I’m thankful for both the athletes and assistant coaches because it’s their hard work that put me in a position to get this award.”
In his 12 seasons, Redwine has had 11 of his Jayhawks claim individual titles, 117 All-Americans and five Olympians, including 2012 gold medalist Diamond Dixon. Two of Redwine’s KU teams have already been inducted to the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame — the 2001 and 2002 men’s teams after each finished eighth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
