KU women defeat TCU, 74-67, on Senior Night

Carolyn Davis scored 27 points on 9-for-12 field-goal shooting, leading the Kansas women's basketball team to a 74-67 home victory over TCU on Tuesday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

KU upped its lead to 68-60 with 54 seconds left before a late TCU run. The Horned Frogs scored five straight points, and after a Natalie Ventress three, KU led just 68-65 with 35.7 seconds left.

After that, Monica Engelman, CeCe Harper and Markisha Hawkins all made both ends of one-and-one free-throw opportunities to seal the win for KU.

Davis' 27 points tied for her second-most this season.

Engelman added 14 points, with 13 of those coming in the second half. Angel Goodrich, who had just two points on 1-for-12 shooting, added 12 assists.

It was the final regular-season home game for KU seniors Davis, Engelman and Goodrich.

Kamy Cole led TCU (9-20, 2-16 Big 12) with 15 points.

KU (17-12, 8-10) will play TCU again at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the first round of the Big 12 tournament in Dallas, Texas. The Jayhawks will be the No. 7 seed.

Glad the women could at least end their AFH careers with a win, but a crappy coach is going to keep them from making the tournament yet again.

Why are you yelling? I do take the crap job she does personally because I want to see all of KU's teams be successful and no coach at KU has wasted more talent than Bonnie. 1 NCAA tournament appearance in 9 years is not acceptable for a major conference team.

And other Jayhawk fans don't want them to win?

Regardless of your love for all things KU, it's not personal for a normal person. Maybe you should get out more and see if you can find a life of your own.

I do have a life of my own. I was also friends with a couple of girls on the team when I was in school and frustrates the hell out of me to see a coach so incompetently waste like Bonnie does keep players from reaching their full potentials on the court. When you personally know people on the team, it does make you feel more connected to the team and take the failures a little than if you have no personal connection to the team at all.

Sorry dagger, but I'm completely with texashawk on this one. Dagger, I know you care about KU teams winning. Are you saying that Bonnie deserves to keep her job? Do you really believe she's accomplished even REMOTELY what she should have, given how long she's been at KU?

Yes she has wasted lots of talent...I remember watching Boogard in her Senior Year and how she wasted her talents and wondered what was going on with this coach. There is movement every year in all programs, but I think that she has had her full share of them (departures)....In the middle of the season too.

Let's enjoy the moment and wish the girls well and cheer them all the way to the NCAA. Let the AD worry about the coach; he has shown he is very capable.

Nice win, ladies. You are greatly appreciated. And, oh by the way, the season's not over yet!

Texashawk you are not saying anything different then what some have posted all year. It is not personal, it is the truth. These wayward fans bash HCBH after every lost. Then when they win against the last place team in BIg 12 it is such a GREAT win. Ha! I have not changed win or lose this program deserve better.

Agree.....There needs to be some changes within the Women's program and until Henrickson is gone, there will be nothing but teasing and high hopes for a good season only to be disappointed over and over again. She has contantly demonstarated that she cannot get the best out of her players day in and day out in order to be in the Top echelon of this league. Every year she hides players (by sitting them on the bench) and stifles the game of those that are very capable of forming a great team able to compete in this league, or better yet she runs them off. Don't think anyone is getting personal just as no_fan stated, "IT IS THE TRUTH". NCAA Tournament or not, she needs to be replaced. NOW THAT IS THE TRUTH.

Here's another reason why Henrickson should be gone. No offense to Hawkins, as I felt her and Cole should have been playing all season, especially with the bench shortage. Looking at the past 3 games of her guards, Ray Charles could see that Henrickson had to have told certain young ladies not to shoot the ball, as often they were wide open and made them look as if they did not know what they were doing in order to facilitate a change in her lineup. Kudos to Hawkins for a great game, but Henrickson is not a good coach, nor is she good at rotating her players in. She constantly tries to down play certain players attributes to the team so that she can promote certain favorites and that is what has killed her teams over the past few years (Even in the Danielle McCray and Sade Morris era). She needs to learn that player #12 on her roster, is just as important as player #1 on her roster and keep them all encouraged. She kills spirits and down plays true talent if they are not her favorite, until she has no other option but to play them (especially when injuries occur) THEN THEY ARE HER HERO !!! This woman is ridiculous to say the least. SHE MUST GO !
