I am with you, jayhawkbenny27. I enjoy the Hawks in the NBA, even if its only a couple of minutes once in a while. Their teammates and competitors are the most physically gifted and the best basketball players on the planet. Wayne, Paul, and Mario have received NBA Championship rings in recent years. I have high hopes for Tyshawn that grow higher every day. When he plays (and remember: he is a rookie), he acquits himself well. I loved Darnell's time in the league, and proudly own his Cavaliers jersey. Although he was much loved as a player and a Jayhawk, because of a couple of kid mistakes he never got his due as the character guy he really was. Nick is a very significant contributor on a championship-quality team. They just wouldn't be as good without him. Kirk contributes significantly. Thomas will make his mark. And all these guys are making a truckload of money.

I still brag about playing in a pickup game or two with Bud Stallworth before he became Bud Stallworth. Have some pride, Jayhawk fans. Celebrate our former players' successes without reservation. Is Josh going to make it really, really big? Xavier? Probably not if your measuring stick is All-Star Game appearances. But they helped us out for a time. And their kids won't need scholarships to go to college. We should be happy for them.

Shoot to kill, Jayhawks.

Sometimes Cole gets minutes where he situationally matches up well against the opponent, the NBA game is changing and Cole isn't the prototypical 5 man anymore. Shady is coming off surgery and other than that he's had a pretty solid NBA career. I know all these guys were super stars at KU but its extremely difficult to become super stars in the NBA. We're a top 5 program all time and have only had a handful of NBA super stars. I think it's fair to say that as a fan base we need to temper our expectations of our guys in the league. People need to stop being so negative towards these guys and support them a little more, I for one love this section and check it every day and get pumped when one or more Hawks have breakout games.

And this format of the stat line is the best one far and away! RCJHs in the NBA!

Shady "bested" Kirk in that matchup.

I'm really surprised that Cole isn't in the NBDL and playing rather than just being used to scrimmage.

BMac should read this column every day!!! Esp. the Brandon Rush and Xavier Henry lines. If he fine tunes his game another year (or even two) under great KU coaching, that's the difference between spending a few years in the league (and averaging 5-8 pts/game) and getting legit playing time and perhaps becoming a Paul Pierce-type player who gets the green light to shoot at will.
