Kansas golfer Kawinpakorn ties for 12th in Miami

— Kansas University freshman golfer Yupaporn Kawinpakorn tied for 12th place after the final round of the Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge on Tuesday at Shula’s Golf Club.

Kawinpakorn’s three-round total of 72-72-81—225 led the KU women to a ninth-place tie with Missouri, which also finished with a 54-over score of 918.

North Carolina State ran away with the title at the 16-team tournament, carding a score of 10-over 874.

KU junior Meghan Potee joined Kawinpakorn near the top of the 92-golfer leaderboard. Potee’s 73-74-80—227 was good for a tie for 21st place.

The Jayhawks will compete next on March 8 at the Notre Dame Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz.

It was a tough day for the whole team, losing quite a few strokes to the field, including 14 to Missouri. Still, a pretty solid tournament.
